Dr. Kyra Haring has practiced veterinary medicine in the Glens Falls region for nearly 30 years, 25 of them spent working directly with law enforcement on animal cruelty and neglect cases across Warren, Washington, and surrounding counties. She is the owner of For Pet’s Sake Veterinary Center in Glens Falls, and is now bringing that same community-first standard of care back to Granville with the launch of Granville Veterinary Care — continuing a tradition of hometown veterinary medicine in a town that has long relied on it.

Alongside her clinical work, Dr. Haring is the founder and president of Paws & Hooves Alliance, Inc., a nonprofit working to establish a no-kill municipal animal shelter serving Warren and Washington Counties. The organization grew out of years of firsthand experience with the gaps in the region’s animal welfare infrastructure — cases where law enforcement and county agencies had nowhere to turn for animals in crisis. Paws & Hooves Alliance is advancing a comprehensive plan for a regional shelter addressing public safety, crisis sheltering, community veterinary access, and stray/surrender infrastructure, with growing support from state legislators and animal welfare advocates.

Dr. Haring earned her Bachelor of Arts from New York University, her Bachelor of Science from Wagner College, and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Florida. She lives in the foothills of the Adirondacks, where rescue animals have long been — and continue to be — a part of her own life at home, alongside her work serving the animals of her community.
